Blackwell Research has a single goal: to bring innovative products to our customers. While this seems a simple step, the execution becomes very complex. Because for innovation to result in revolution; creativity, discipline, drive and self-honesty are required. We start with the most prolific and creative designer alive today. We add money for research and development, study carbon fiber and material set-up, and spend hours in the wind tunnel: the complexity becomes manageable.

We feel that it is not enough to re-label someone else’s ideas and products. It is not enough to advertise the hype and sell our products. We feel that triathletes, road racers and time trialers deserve more. They deserve data driven truth. They deserve the next step in materials and design. If an athlete works to produce racing effort, so should we at Blackwell.

We call ourselves the data driven technology company. What exactly does this mean?

     *It means creating and manufacturing our own designs.
     *It means utilizing the latest materials and methods of production.
     *It means testing our own designs in wind tunnels and with pressure
      sensors and then ABIDING BY THE TRUTH OF THE DATA!
     *It means that we must bring to you, our customers, only products
      that are better, faster, sexier and more comfortable than any other
      products available.

A very few other companies have spent the time and money to develop products this way. It is a slower, harder way to build a company. These technological adventures are akin to building an exercise base for endurance racing. It always produces a better result at race time.

We at Blackwell Research, design, manufacture and sell the very best bicycle components, but our expertise extends beyond sales. We provide consulting services on design, aerodynamics, biomechanics, positioning, materials and trends in the industry. Our active involvement with elite athletes as well as age group athletes of all levels allow us a unique understanding of present technology and future directions.

Everyone at Blackwell Research races. John Cobb is legendary and is the head designer at Blackwell Research. He has worked with innumerable professional and age group athletes and has helped with many world records. He has a unique experience and understanding of biomechanics and aerodynamic positioning. Thousands of hours in the wind tunnels, thousands of athletes and thousands of design hours make John one of a kind. Dr. Stephen Greer is a cardiovascular surgeon and the owner of Blackwell Research. He is an active age group triathlete. He has been a competitive swimmer and tennis player since his college days. He brings the same level of precision and perfection to Blackwell Research that he brings to the performance of heart surgery. Dave Bunce is the national sales manager at Blackwell Research. He has been bicycle racing for 20 years as a triathlete, road racer and mountain biker. He has been a consistent top 5 finisher and has participated in the triathlon national championships in 2004. He understands the effort and exhilaration of racing. Whether it is Escape from Alcatraz, Wildflower, St. Anthony’s, or the half ironman at Gulf Coast, he brings that feeling and love for the sport to Blackwell Research sales.
